Hello all,
It's been awhile! I've been super busy with my regular job and finishing up some custom orders. I just wanted to share what my latest work will involve. I recently became friends with a woman on Etsy (where my online store is) that sells scarves that she makes. She posted on Facebook about a woman with cystic fibrosis and how she has a family etc. that are having a hard time with all the medical bills. So for her benefit they are going to hold an auction to help raise money for the medical bills. This is the link that tells more about it if you are interested. http://www.facebook.com/mmycentirmosaics#!/event.php?eid=279001225445231
It doesn't matter how small or big your help might seem. You can still help. :) You can email the woman in charge of it all at: jstshirtscarf@gmail.com if you have any questions.
I'm donating a stained glass mosaic butterfly with purple flowers. Becky's favorite color is purple. I will be posting pictures soon of what it looks like :). Stay tuned!

Mosaic Tree Plate
I've recently started working on another piece. It's a Mosaic Tree Plate that has stained glass pieces that were used as the mosaic pieces. It shows a nature scene of a tree overlooking a stream with rocks by it and birds flying in the sky with clouds over hills. When it's finished it will come with a free stand that will hold the mosaic plate. The stand can also be attached to the wall so you can hang it up just like a picture on the wall. Right now I'm thinking I'll be using a black or dark grey grout to finish it up with. But I do need to finish the frame first. It will have my signature "mmcintyre" in the edge of the mosaic.
I wanted to design something that is close to my heart and that is nature. I love trees and just being outside. I wanted to show my artistic take on an outdoors nature piece. This would show my kind of peaceful day. You can hear the birds crying out to eachother as they're flying in the sky. There's a tree above you in the sky. You can see the neighboring hills just over the horizon of the skyline. My favorite color is green and it shows in this piece. This is a piece you can just get lost in daydreaming.

Welcome to Mycentir Mosaics :)
I've never written a blog before so this will be a first. lol But I thought I start out by first saying thank you to those that are reading this. I'm very happy that you've supported and helped me out by liking my work. I really really do appreciate everyone's help and love!
For those of you new to Mycentir Mosaics I'll go ahead and introduce myself. My name is Melissa Kathleen McIntyre. I'm a self-taught mixed media mosaic artist. That means that I love to use all sorts of different kinds of things in my work. I absolutely love stained glass and that would be my main type of media that I use. I love to treasure hunt at the local Goodwill and Salvation Army. I could spend all day hunting through junk as most people call it. lol I however see a use in an everyday object. I love to collect seashells, buttons, beads, gems, stones, copper tubing, marbles, etc. I could make the list go on and on but I won't. I love the idea of recycling. I'd much rather redesign something I know I can make myself than go out buy a brand new one and throw the old one away. For me creating mosaic art has helped me develop my skills better as an artist. I hope that by me sharing my skills and talents others can benefit from what I've learned or can enjoy my artwork.
I created Mycentir Mosaics because I've always wanted to open my own art store. I just never knew if it would be successful or not. I'm still in the beginning stages of business but I love to do it. It's def a learning process but I am loving it. I knew that if I didn't try now to open Mycentir Mosaics it probably would be something I regretted later.
I came up with the name Mycentir Mosaics because I love to do mosaics and that's what most of my work is. Mycentir pronounced My-/Cent-/tear is the letters of my last name rearranged so that McIntyre (my last name) sounds like My Center for mosaics. I liked the idea of it and bam idea born.
I just wanted to say hey and I'll be posting more later on. Thanks for reading! Have a great day! Melissa <3
